# Account settings

> Settings › Account shows your username and role and manages the ways to log in: password, email, passkeys and Telegram. The last remaining way cannot be removed.

Open **Settings › Account** (`/settings/account`). Guests see a lock.

Settings › Account: profile and ways to log in.

## Profile

Username and role. The username cannot be changed here.

## Ways to log in

Each row shows the method, its state (**Set** or **Not set**) and buttons.

| Method | Buttons | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| **Password** | **Set…** when there is none, otherwise **Change…** and **Remove** | At least 8 characters. Changing or removing signs out other devices. |
| **Email** | **Add…**, **Remove** | **Add email** sends a 6 digit code to confirm the address. One email per account, an address linked to another account is refused. |
| **Passkey** | **Add…**, per key **Rename…** and **Remove** | Each key shows its provider, `added <date>` and `last used <date>` or `never used`. Up to 10 passkeys per account. A device that already has a passkey for this account says so. |
| **Telegram** | **Add…**, **Remove**, **Alerts…** | Shows whether alerts go to the same Telegram account, to another chat, via your own bot, or are off. **Get alerts here…** links the chat for alerts. |

### Removing a method

1. Click **Remove** next to the method.
2. Confirm **Remove ‹method›?**. You will no longer be able to log in this way and other devices are signed out.
3. When the account has a password, enter it in **Enter your current password to confirm.**

The only way to log in cannot be removed: the dialog **The only way to log in** asks you to add another way first.

## Backup method

After registering with a username and password, the card **Add a backup way to log in** appears once: with an email you can log in with a code and reset a forgotten password. **Open settings** leads here, **Not now** dismisses it.
