> Where alerts are delivered: Telegram through the shared Spreader bot or your own bot, pop-ups with sound in the browser, Pushover through the shared application or your own. Set up in Settings › Alerts.

Open **Settings › Alerts** (`/settings/alerts`). The **Channels** tab lists Telegram, Browser and Pushover on the left, pick one to set it up. Each channel has a switch, **Check** and **Send test**. The **Preferences** tab sets the language of messages.

## Telegram

Alerts go through one Telegram bot at a time: the shared bot or your own. **Alerts via** picks **Shared bot** or **My own bot**, the single switch turns alerts on or off.

### Shared Spreader bot

The shared bot is [@SpreaderApp](https://t.me/SpreaderApp), the same bot that answers [commands](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/bot/overview.md).

1. Click **Link Telegram**. A link appears with **Open in Telegram** and **Copy link**. It works for 10 minutes.
2. Open it and press **Start** in Telegram. The page waits (**Waiting for Start in Telegram…**) and then says **Telegram linked**.
3. Click **Send test** to receive a test message. The button then counts down 30 seconds.

**Relink…** links another chat, **Unlink…** stops alerts in this chat. The same link also enables the personal commands of the [bot](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/bot/personal.md). If you log in with Telegram, the page says whether alerts go to the same account.

### Your own Telegram bot

1. Create a bot with `@BotFather` and write anything to it.
2. Paste the **Bot token** and your **Chat id**. **Detect chat id** finds it after you wrote to the bot. **Thread id** is only for forum topics.
3. Click **Save**, then **Check**.

The token is encrypted on the server and never shown again. Your bot delivers alerts only to you, with its own Telegram limits. Status values: **Working**, **Not reachable** (with the reason, for example `the bot is blocked in Telegram`), **Not checked**, **Paused**.

## Browser

**Enable browser alerts** shows a pop-up on any page while a Spreader tab is open and you are signed in. Nothing leaves the site, Telegram can stay on at the same time.

**Sound · this device**: **Play a sound with each alert**, pick the **Signal** and **Volume**, **Play** previews it. Browsers allow sound only after a click on the page, so the first click in a fresh tab unlocks it. Sound settings are kept per device.

## Pushover

### Shared Spreader application

1. Install the Pushover app on your phone and copy the **User key** from it or from pushover.net.
2. Paste it, optionally pick a **Device** (empty reaches all your devices), click **Save** and **Check**. Found devices are listed.
3. **Send test** to verify.

The shared application has a monthly cap of messages per user shown on the page as **Shared application limit: up to N messages per user per month. Used this month: N.** When the pool is used up, the page says **Pushover is paused until the 1st**.

### Your own Pushover application

Create an application at pushover.net/apps/build, paste its **App token** and your **User key**. Your application has its own 10 000 messages per month and no per-user limit. The shared application and your own cannot be on at the same time. Priority and sound are chosen per alert, see [Pair and market alerts](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/alerts/pair-and-market.md#pushover-priority-and-sound).

## Preferences

**Language of alerts**: English, Russian, Ukrainian or **Same as the site**. Alert messages come in this language, the site language is separate.
