# FAQ

> Short answers to common questions: why a spread is shown but not tradeable, why rows disappear, why guests are slowed, why an alert did not fire, where links come from.

## Can I use Spreader without an account?

Yes. The scanner, spread pages, assets, exchanges, loans and the pair builder are open to guests. An account raises the limits and unlocks alerts, sharing and trading. See [Getting started](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/start/getting-started.md).

## Why does the row counter say `0 of 2 000`?

Every live direction is filtered out. Loosen a filter or switch the pair kind to **All**. **Clear all** in the filter panel removes every filter.

## Why is a spread positive but the trade loses money?

Look at **Out net**: closing both legs costs a spread too. Entry plus exit is the price result, funding over the holding period is the rest. The **Calc** mode of the trade panel puts the numbers together, see [Calculator](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/spread/calculator.md).

## Why did a pair disappear from the scanner?

It stopped passing the filters, a leg quote went stale, a market was delisted or an exchange stopped answering. Favorites that are not live are listed under **Not available now** on the Favorites page.

## Why is a leg marked `delisting` or `no pool`?

The exchange is removing the market, or the margin pool of the coin is empty. Both are hidden by default and shown with the switches at the bottom of the filter panel.

## Why am I slowed to one update per second?

Under heavy load guests are slowed first. Sign in to keep full speed.

## Why does the page say `No fresh quotes`?

Exchanges are not answering. This is a data outage, not your filters. Rows come back as soon as quotes do.

## Why did my alert not fire?

Check the rule state in **Tools › Alerts**: `off`, `done` (a once rule already fired), `paused: storm` (auto-pause) or `paused: page too wide`. Then check the protections: quote age, hold time and cooldown can suppress a short spike. See [Protections](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/alerts/protections.md).

## Why can I not share or follow a scanner?

Sharing, cloning and following need an account. A page that follows another scanner cannot be shared or followed in turn.

## Why does the trade panel show a lock?

Hover it: the reason is written per leg. Usually a key is missing or not verified in **Settings › Markets API**, or the pair kind cannot be traded yet. See [Trading](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/trading/overview.md).

## Do my API keys leave the server?

No. Keys are stored encrypted, orders are signed on the server, secrets are never sent back to the browser. Never enable withdrawals on a key you add.

## How do I build a link to a spread in my own tool?

Use `/spread?long=exchange:type:COIN/QUOTE&short=…` with the coin and quote as the exchange names them. See [Spread page links](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/links/spread.md).

## Why are two markets with the same name shown by their exchange symbol?

They are twins on one exchange. The symbol tells them apart, see [Spread page links](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/links/spread.md#exact-form-the-exchange-symbol).

## Where do fees come from?

From the base taker fee schedule of each exchange for that market type. Your own tier is not applied.

## Which language and theme does the site use?

The ones you pick in the header, remembered in the browser. Alert messages have their own language in **Settings › Alerts › Preferences**.
