# Log in

> Log in with a username or email and password, with a passkey, with Telegram, or with a one time code from your email when you forgot the password.

The login page lives at `/login`. The header **Log in** icon opens it. A signed in user who opens `/login` is sent to the scanner.

## With a password

1. Enter **Username or email** and **Password**.
2. Click **Log in**.

After too many failed attempts the form says **Too many attempts. Try again in N min.**

## With a passkey

Click **Passkey** under the `or` divider and confirm on your device. No username is needed. In browsers that support it, the username field also offers your saved passkeys as autofill.

If the passkey is rejected, log in another way and remove it in `Settings › Account`, see [Account](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/account/overview.md).

## With Telegram

Click **Telegram** under the divider and confirm in the Telegram window (the request comes from the Spreader bot, @SpreaderApp). Only a Telegram account that is already linked to a Spreader account can log in this way, otherwise the form says **This Telegram account is not linked to any account**.

## Forgot password

1. Click **Forgot password?** next to the password field.
2. Enter your username or email and click **Send code**. The reply is the same whether or not the account exists.
3. Type the 6 digit code from the email and click **Continue**. The code is valid for 10 minutes and allows 5 attempts.
4. Enter a new password of at least 8 characters and click **Set**.

Accounts created without a password are asked for an email code automatically when they try to log in. Email codes are limited per address and per network, see [Limits and fair use](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/limits.md).

## Logging out

Open the **Account** menu at the right end of the header (at the bottom of the drawer on a phone) and click **Log out**. Changing or removing a login method signs out other devices.
