> ## Agent Instructions
> Spreader is a web service that tracks arbitrage spreads between crypto exchanges. This documentation covers only what a user of the service sees and does.

# Auto

> Auto fills or closes a pair position in chunks on the server while the spread by the order books meets your threshold: Min In for opening, Min Out or Min PnL for closing. Start, Pause, Stop.

Auto runs on the server, also when the page is closed. It watches the order books of both legs and sends a chunk whenever the net spread for that chunk size, fees included, is at or above your threshold, until the whole amount is filled.

The trade panel in Open · Auto with a run in progress.

## Opening

1. Choose **Open › Auto** on the spread page.
2. Enter the size, **Min In, %**, and for perpetual legs **Leverage** and **Margin**.
3. Click **Start**.

The panel shows **Filled**, **Fillable now** (the size the books allow at Min In right now), **In avg**, **In now**, **Chunks** and **Missed**. The status is **Running**, **Waiting**, **Paused**, **Done** or **Stopped**, with a note such as `waiting for In ≥ N`, `depth at Min In is below the exchange minimum`, `waiting for order books`, `lot steps of the legs do not match`, `rate limit — next chunk shortly` or `evening legs`.

## Closing

**Close › Auto** closes in chunks while **Out** by the books is at or above **Min Out, %**, or, with **PnL $** selected, while the pair PnL by the books is at or above **Min PnL, $**. The panel shows **Closed**, **Closable now**, **Out avg**, **Out now**, **PnL now**, **PnL closed** and **If all closed now**.

## Buttons

| Button | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Start** | Starts the run. |
| **Pause** | Stops sending chunks, keeps the progress. |
| **Resume** | Continues after a pause. |
| **Stop** | Stops and resets the progress. The position stays open. |

**Auto is running on this pair — pause it first** appears when you try Semi or Manual on a pair with a running Auto. One Auto per pair, at most 3 active Auto runs per account.

## Chunk orders

Chunks are market orders or IOC limit orders, chosen in **Settings › Trade**, see [Trade settings](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/trading/settings.md#auto-mode). With IOC a leg may fill partly, Auto then evens the legs: `completing the lagging leg` or `rolling back the leading leg`.

All runs are listed in **Tools › Positions › Auto** with **Pause**, **Resume**, **Stop** and **Pause all**, see [Positions](https://docs.spreader.sh/en/tools/positions.md#auto).
