# Trade settings

> Settings › Trade holds two choices: whether the legs are balanced automatically after opening in Semi, and whether Auto chunks are IOC limit orders or market orders.

Open **Settings › Trade** (`/settings/trade`). Each switch saves at once.

## Opening a position

**Balance legs automatically**: **On** or **Off**.

Some exchanges take a market buy on spot as an amount in USDT, so slippage and the fee paid in the coin leave the spot leg slightly smaller than the perp leg.

| Setting | Behaviour |
| - | - |
| **On** | After opening in Semi, the larger leg is reduced to the smaller one with one extra order when the smaller leg cannot be topped up. A difference up to 0.5 % of the position is left as it is. |
| **Off** | The difference stays. The position shows `legs differ` and the **Balance legs** button. |

## Auto mode

**Chunk orders**: **IOC limit** or **Market**.

| Setting | Behaviour |
| - | - |
| **IOC limit** | Each chunk is a limit order that fills at once or is cancelled, capped at the worst price of the chunk: never worse than Min In, but a leg may fill partly, Auto then evens the legs. |
| **Market** | Each chunk is a market order on both legs: legs always equal, but the fill may be worse than Min In when the book moves. |
